We have an immediate opening for a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Phlebotomist/Front Office Receptionist to support Client Depositor/Andrology services and the Reproductive Laboratory.
Responsibilities include:
• Meet and greet clients, vendors, and guests arriving at the reception window; announce arrivals and verify appointments
• Answer telephones, transfer calls, and take messages, when appropriate; provide general information, answer basic questions about services and client preparation for services, and respond to requests for laboratory results
• Schedule appointments on the LA Client Calendar, call ahead to confirm appointments, and follow-up on missed appointments
• Distribute information packet to clients, upon request
• Present clients with required paperwork and ensure all documentation is complete
• Follow-up by phone, email, and/or letter with clients on pending documents
• Help clients with tank pick-ups and returns, which may involve one or more of the following: providing instructions, obtaining information and documentation, tracking, and logging information manually or electronically
• Provide collection instructions to clients
• Assist with generating and mailing account renewals, and receiving/posting mailed payments from clients
• Create invoices and collect payments from clients
• Update, retrieve, and maintain client information electronically, as needed.
• Assist with reviewing laboratory vendor invoices, packing slips, and purchase orders
• Maintain competency and comply with all relevant standard operating procedures
• Process blood, urine, and other body fluid specimens for referred testing; include specimen identification, centrifugation, aliquoting, shipping, ordering, tracking, etc. as appropriate
• Collect blood samples by venipuncture, ensuring positive identification of clients
• Maintain the phlebotomy area, including stocking and cleaning
• Follow-up on outstanding/overdue laboratory results
• Conduct quality control checks on canes/vials
• Assist with operational projects related to Client Depositor services and the Reproductive Laboratory
• Maintain office supplies, pamphlets, refreshments/snacks, DVD's, and magazines, as appropriate
• Keep collection rooms and waiting areas clean and clear of clutter
• Assist other departments with shared tasks, such as billing and client follow-up.
• Perform clerical duties such as filing, faxing, copying, scanning, collating, creating labels, and sending, receiving and sorting mail
• Other duties and projects as required
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent minimum, with some college coursework preferred, and California CPT I/II required with 2+ years of phlebotomy and customer service experience; previous laboratory experience is desirable; bilingual (English/Spanish) skills; strong computer skills; excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; strong attention to detail; and familiarity with laboratory and medical terminology.
